In an effort to significantly increase the quality of the nation’s long-term care for people of determination, Amana Healthcare, part of Mubadala’s network of healthcare providers, will operate Al Mudeef Center, a specialized long-term disability care facility in Abu Dhabi. The center provides a safe home, social integration and skilled nursing care for up to 80 people of determination from across the UAE.
This follows Amana Healthcare’s successful bid for a tender issued in 2018 by the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (“ZHO”).
Founded with a focus on excellence in clinical outcomes and patient experience, Amana Healthcare was the first healthcare provider in the Middle East to develop an integrated post-acute continuum of care that includes long-term care, post-acute rehabilitation and specialized home healthcare. Amana was also the first provider in the region to obtain U.S. CARF accreditation across all its services. Acquired by Mubadala in early 2019, Amana operates medical and rehabilitation hospitals in the UAE offering a range of post-acute services to patients across the region.
The Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination was established by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, as an umbrella organization for a range of humanitarian bodies, social services and special needs institutions. Inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, ZHO aims to provide equal rights to increase happiness and social empowerment for people with disabilities.
Under the new partnership agreement, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and Amana Healthcare will work together to develop the first integrated model of care—combining medical, environmental and social care—for people of determination who have complex medical, psychological and social needs. The Al Mudeef facility will undergo extensive renovations to create a vibrant, positive setting where residents are empowered to dream, grow and contribute to a happy home and community.
The agreement represents an opportunity for Amana Healthcare to further its vision of making world-class health services available to people throughout the region, and will ensure Zayed Higher Organization has access to the resources needed to provide a safe and healthy environment for people of determination. The partnership will allow Amana and ZHO to create an ideal clinical care setting that is functionally, culturally and socially structured to maximize quality-of-life and meet the unique needs of this vulnerable and important part of society.

Abdulla Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Head of Mubadala Healthcare, and. It is the first of many collaborative initiatives with Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, as Mubadala Healthcare continues to develop specialized healthcare facilities to provide world-class, individualized and culturally-appropriate care for the people of the UAE.
