Women Lead The Frontlines At UAE’s Largest Healthcare Network

Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the largest healthcare network in the UAE, today stated that 68% of its overall workforce comprises of female healthcare workers, underlining the crucial role played by women in the ongoing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The total number of SEHA female staff stands strong at 12,100, including nearly 6,000 nursing staff; 1,775 doctors and physicians; 2,500 personnel across the network’s Ambulatory Healthcare Services; 2,191 female staff from Tawam Hospital; as well as 2,083 women at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City – all continuing to relentlessly dedicate their time, focus and efforts to serving the nation.

The figures were unveiled as part of International Women’s Day 2021, highlighting the resilience, courage and determination of women as they lead the charge on the frontlines of the pandemic as health workers and caregivers, community organizers and innovators.

Discussing the role of women on the frontlines of the nation’s recovery against the pandemic, Dr. Aysha Al Mahri, Group Chief Nursing Officer at SEHA said, “This year’s International Women’s Day is like no other. As countries begin their road to recovery from COVID-19, women remain steadfast at the forefront in the fight against the pandemic. Their profound contributions – whether as healthcare professionals,or as community leaders shaping response strategies for the development of the health sector – have played an active role in the charting a new path forward for our nation. Guided by the vision of our wise leadership, we at SEHA pledge to continue to invest in the productive capabilities of our female workforce, helping them strengthen their – and the nation’s – future.”

With a desire to continually increase women’s meaningful participation at all levels of leadership – particularly in building back a stronger economic recovery, SEHA has witnessed an inspiring rise in the number of female employees participating in the network’s development programs. Nearly 120 female staff, constituting 79% of all participants, have already commenced their journeys to grow and succeed in their leadership career at SEHA, with many more to begin throughout 2021. Participants are benefiting from a multi-faceted learning experience designed to build a highly skilled, engaged and motivated inter-professional workforce, responsive to patient needs and future innovation in healthcare, working to the highest international standards.
