Amana Healthcare has opened Amana Pediatric and Neonatal Long-Term Care Hospital, a dedicated pediatric long-term care facility in Al Ain with on-site pediatricians, intensive care specialists and a multidisciplinary therapy team to ensure the highest standards of care for children with complex medical needs.
The opening of the new facility was expedited by Mubadala Healthcare amidst the fast changing situation of COVID-19, in an effort to provide the Abu Dhabi healthcare landscape increased long-term care bed capacity, aiding other healthcare providers to better cope with the immediate needs of the spread of the virus.
The new hospital expands on Amana Healthcare’s existing Al Ain facilities, with the Mubadala Healthcare provider having already opened the region’s first specialized long-term intensive care hospital for adults and children in Al Ain in 2013. This move demonstrates Mubadala Healthcare’s vision of creating a thriving healthcare sector in Abu Dhabi, enabling the UAE community to receive world-class specialized healthcare locally and reduce their need to travel abroad for treatment.
The new hospital, located in the Al Towayya area of Al Ain, has been designed exclusively for pediatrics, with several unique features such as a children’s therapy area, a full-sized hydrotherapy pool, and therapy rooms dedicated for speech and language; physio; occupational; and sensory therapy.

Long-term care is a key segment of the UAE’s expanding healthcare system, easing the burden of space and resources in acute hospitals. Amana’s long-term care model for children includes intensive, multi-disciplinary therapy programs led by Western-trained specialists, and an in-house education program with a full-time special needs teacher to give pediatric residents a chance to live the best life possible.

In line with Amana Healthcare’s family-first approach to healthcare, the hospital also features a large central majlis where families can gather to commune and converse, and a wheelchair-friendly courtyard garden allowing residents to enjoy the outdoors.
While the hospital is already open to patients, these family facilities will be available as soon as the COVID-19 social-distancing policies are no longer necessary.
