The 12th Medication Safety Conference Highlights The Importance Of Embracing Clinical Excellence And Innovation In Healthcare

The 12th Medication Safety Conference 2019, organized by Synovetics, will be held in Abu Dhabi today, in collaboration with the American Society for Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) at the Dusit Thani Hotel and will continue until the third of November.  Around 800 participants are expected to attend this event that gathers renowned speakers in medication and patient safety from across the globe.

The Medication Safety Conference delivers its scientific program through numerous tracks, expanding beyond just the pharmacist’s role in medication management.  Dr. Adeline Saliba, Chairperson of the 12th Medication Safety Conference 2019 and Chief of Staff to the CEO at SEHA Corporate, stressed the importance of formulating strategies that support a collaborative approach to clinical excellence, given the fact that medication management processes are complex and multidisciplinary in nature.  She also reinforced redesigning health care delivery through workflow efficiencies and standardization.

She notes, “Just culture philosophies must be incorporated into the patient safety agenda, as well as adoption of human factors principles.  It is necessary to have a balance between humans and their interaction with systems, while reinforcing professional accountability”.

She added that healthcare is a rapidly evolving and dynamic environment, where seamless integration and effective teamwork are essential for the delivery of safe, cost-effective and holistic patient care.

Speakers at the conference will provide comprehensive insights into medication safety across several dimensions, and will discuss emerging technologies and innovation in healthcare.

This educational program is accredited by The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi for 28 continuing medical education credits and by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) for 23 continuing pharmacy education credits.
